 Fresh picks

Sweet, tangy and juicy, there's nothing quite like fresh citrus fruits. On their own or mixed in with your favorite dishes, they're a great way to squeeze extra flavor into your day. Even better, with all the varieties you have to choose from, trying something new is deliciously easy.

Navel Oranges
These delights are easy to spot thanks to the little “belly button” that you’ll find at one end. They’re seedless, so you can peel and segment into wedges with very little effort—ideal for breakfast or a mid morning snack. You’ll find Navel Oranges in fresh abundance during the winter months. Also available in 4 lb. and 15 lb. bags.

Cara Cara Navel Oranges
This variety is similar to the Navel Orange with one juicy difference; the inside is red or dark pink and is deliciously sweet with a tangy finish. For a burst of flavor, add the juice to vinaigrette based salad dressings. Look for Cara Cara Navel Oranges from January through April.

Minneola Tangelo
Big in size and full of sweet-tart flavor, you’ll recognize a Minneola Tangelo by the unique “door knob” like shape at one end. They’re easy to peel and are virtually seedless, making them great for snacking. Enjoy Minneolas from the months of January to April.

Clementine Mandarins
Clementine Mandarins have a flavor that is reminiscent of sweet apricots. They’re easily divided into bite-sized segments. Look for these sun ripened treats.

Satsuma Mandarins
Think of these sweet treats as early risers (they’re considered to be the first mandarins of the season). They come in a variety of shapes but all are easy to peel and divide into mouth-watering segments.

Tangerines
Small in size, Tangerines have a looser peel, making them perfect for an on the go snack. For a sweet twist, add them to salads and desserts. To remove seeds, make a slight cut at the center of the segment and carefully pop them out.

Small Valencia Oranges
These plump favorites are the perfect pick when it comes to quenching your thirst for fresh, squeezed orange juice. Or enjoy them on their own, simply cut into small wedges.

Pummelo
They may look similar to grapefruit but after one juicy bite, you’ll discover some unique differences. To start, they’re very aromatic and sweet. They’re also less acidic and have more segments than grapefruit. Cut into them and you’ll notice their interiors range from white to deep pink.

Grapefruit
Always popular, grapefruit comes in many varieties with several pink or red types being among the favorites. They’re known to be a good source of dietary fiber while their sweet and tangy juice makes them delicious for breakfast or in a fresh avocado salad. Also available in 5 lb. and 15 lb. bags.

Lemons
Add a little sunny zest to your meals. From cakes and cookies to a tasty alternative to salt, lemons are as versatile as they are flavorful. When squeezing a lemon, first roll it around the counter (applying a little pressure) to help release all the juice. Look for lemons all year round. Also available in 2 lb. bags.

Limes
From bright green to pale yellow, limes are the most acidic of the citrus fruits. They’re a must have for marinades and beverages.  In a pinch, you can substitute lime juice for recipes that call for lemons. The two main varieties are Key Limes and Persian Limes. You’ll find them available all year round. Each are also available in 2 lb. bags.
